Estonian candidate to the position of the Executive Director of eu-LISA
Dear members of the eu-LISA Management Board,
1 am writing with regard to the ongoing procedure of electing the new Executive Director of eu-LISA.
It is my distinct honour to recommend Ms. Marili Männik, Executive Director ad interim of eu-LISA, as the most suitable candidate for this esteemed position.
Ms. Männik possesses extensive knowledge and experience in Ieading digital transformation processes, supported by her high motivation to serve European citizens by contributing to the strengthening of European security and collaboration. Her international work experience in leadership positions accompanied by excellent education brings exceptional value to eu-LISA and to the supporting of EU Member States in their digitalisation efforts in Justice and Home Affairs.
Furthermore, as in 2024 eu-LISA took over the management of cross-border justice tool e-CODEX and is developing the JIT cooperation platform and ECRIS-TCN, Ms. Männik has contributed greatly to the strengthening and developing of IT systems in the field ofjustice. During her nine months as Executive Director ad interim, Ms. Mannik successfully urged and supported her team, together with the Member States’ teams, to launch the first Interoperability Roadmap component: sBMS together with the VIS4. She took a bold step towards more agile development of the components of the roadmap and thanks to this, an important part of the roadmap is operational since 20 May 2025.
1 consider it of the utmost importance that cross-border information technology tools in the field of justice are further developed and promoted, and 1 am confident that under the leadership of Ms. Männik, great results will be achieved when it comes to digitalisation ofjustice and judicial co-operation and more importantly, advancing EU technological sovereignty in times of increasing global interdependence and uncertainty.
As the current Executive Director ad interim of eu-LISA, Ms. Marili Männik is well-acquainted with ts ongoing work and would undoubtedly be a valuable leader, contributing with innovative ideas and ensuring continuity.
1 would greatly appreciate your support for the candidacy of Ms. Marili Mannik for the position of Executive Director of eu-LISA.
Yours sincerely,
o
