We, Mahlapuu's relatives Rita and Peeter and retired Lieutenant Colonel Ēvalds Krieviņš, are writing this letter to promote the memory of fighter pilot 3rd lieutenant Mahlapuu. In 2020 in Valka Cimzes cemetery, during the research work was found the grave of the WWI era Russian army air force “Ace” fighters pilot Jaan Mahlapuu, born in Valk. The obelisk will be a symbolic copy of the original monument - crossed propellers. Its production will be made privately with personal or donated funds. The installation of the monument could take place on August 2 or in the 32nd week. The unveiling of the monument could take place during VALGA MILFEST-2025, on August 15-16. It is also planned to unveil a commemorative plaque in the Valga Military Museum. If you are interested in supporting or participating in this activity, please let us know.
