Dear President / Honorable Member of the Constitutional Court/Supreme Court,
I am conducting a doctoral research project entitled “Comparative Review of the Selection of Constitutional Court/Supreme Court Judges in Europe,” with a particular focus on judicial independence and long-term strategies for its protection. As part of this research, I am collecting empirical insights directly from constitutional court/supreme court judges across Europe.
To this end, I have prepared a brief questionnaire concerning your personal experience with judicial independence, perceived challenges, and institutional safeguards. I respectfully invite you to complete the enclosed questionnaire. Your responses will provide invaluable perspectives for understanding the conditions under which constitutional courts operate and how judicial independence can be better preserved.
All responses will be treated with strict confidentiality and used exclusively for academic purposes.
We kindly ask you to return the completed questionnaire by 30 August 2025 at the latest.
Should this deadline prove to be too short due to internal procedures or summer schedules, please do not hesitate to let us know. We are happy to accommodate a slightly later submission if necessary.
Thank you in advance for your time and cooperation. Your contribution is essential to this research on the selection of judges involved in constitutional adjudication across Europe, and it will help deepen our understanding while supporting cross-border learning.
Sincerely,
Krisztian Legeny
