Dear Mr. Kuningas,
We are pleased to take this opportunity to invite representatives of your ministry to attend the upcoming meeting of the ILO/IMO/UNECE Group of Experts for finalisation of modifications and restructuring to the CTU Code. The meeting will be held in person from 15 to 19 December 2025 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.
The establishment of this Group was approved by the UNECE Inland Transport Committee, the ILO Governing Body, and the IMO Maritime Safety Committee to review and finalise, on behalf of their respective memberships, the draft proposal developed under the auspices of UNECE Working Party on Intermodal Transport and Logistics for updating and restructuring the ILO/IMO/UNECE Code of Practice for Packing of Cargo Transport Units (CTU Code). This initiative marks the formal update of the CTU Code in over a decade and aims to enhance its relevance and responsiveness to the evolving challenges of the transport and logistics sector.
In addition to finalizing the proposed revisions, the Group is also expected to recommend a future review and amendment process for each section of the CTU Code (Core and Supplement) as well as any other special instructions pertaining to its chapters, annexes and appendixes. This will help ensure the CTU Code could be easily updated to remain a practical and reliable tool for the industry also in the future.
Your ministry’s participation in the meeting would be instrumental in advancing the
Group’s mandated tasks. We therefore kindly invite you to designate representatives to attend and contribute to the expert group meeting.
