To the Ministry of Economic Affairs & Communications
Republic of Estonia
Dear Colleagues,
ANEC represents the European collective voice of consumers in standardisation, above all the three European Standardisation Organisation (CEN, CENELEC & ETSI). EVS is the Estonian member of CEN & CENELEC, while EVS and TTJA are the NSOs for Estonia in ETSI. ANEC is part of the European Standardisation System established under Regulation (EU) 1025/2012.
Membership of ANEC is composed of natural persons, not legal persons. The countries eligible for membership form a total of 34 countries, reflecting the eligibility criteria of CEN & CENELEC. For many years, the Estonian member of ANEC was Linda Läänesaar of the Estonian Consumers Union (Eesti Tarbijakaitse). However, we understand the Consumers Union has been liquidated.
It is the mission of ANEC to represent the interests of consumers in the countries eligible for membership. We would therefore more than welcome a new member able to represent Estonia in the ANEC governance and activities.
Please note there is no membership fee to participate in ANEC, and we reimburse the travel, accommodation and subsistence costs of our members and experts.
If the Ministry could provide me with the contact details of the organisation best placed to provide the Estonian member of ANEC, I would be pleased to contact them. Note that, as in European and international standardisation, the working language of ANEC is English. Our members and experts therefore need to be able to converse comfortably in English.
I put in copy the Permanent Representation of Estonia to the EU. I understand it is the PermRep that manages the Estonian contribution to the Committee on Standards (CoS), also established under Regulation (EU) 1025/2012.
Of course, I would be pleased to provide clarification or further information.
Kind regards
|
