Launched in 2021, the Equality Platform for the energy sector is a European Commission initiative aimed at advancing diversity,
inclusion, and equality across the energy industry. It continues to serve as a dynamic space for collaboration, learning, and
progress. The Platform remains actively engaged in fostering meaningful change through dialogue and shared action.
Why It Matters?
• Women make up only 24% of the energy workforce.
• 200,000 more women are needed by 2050 to reach balance.
• 73% of women in the sector are satisfied with their working conditions.i
Membership Types
• Full Members are entities that have signed the Declaration and present specific actions to promote diversity, equality
and inclusion (DEI).
• Signatories are entities that have signed the Declaration. Signatories are called to present specific DEI-related actions
within one year to become a Full Member.
Platform Impact
• 47 members from 14 EU countries
• 7 Platform meetings held since 2022
• Topics include anti-discriminatory use of the AI, upskilling and reskilling, supporting women to become sustainable
energy entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs, inclusive practices for the LGBTQ+ community, people with disabilities, racial
minorities and others.
Core Benefits
• Bi-annual hybrid meetings of the Equality Platform’s Members. Please, see the overview of the previous meetings

• Wiki Platform – a collaborative online space designed to foster active internal exchange and discussion among
members, offering forums, blogs, and comment features for sharing ideas and experiences.
• Mentorship programme – the programme aims to facilitate knowledge transfer and strengthen relationships between
experienced and less experienced members of the Equality Platform.
