The World Health Organization (WHO) presents its compliments to Member States and
has the honour to inform them that the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre (GTMC), is organizing the second WHO Traditional Medicine Global Summit (the Summit), which will take place in a hybrid format on 17–19 December 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, India.
The second Summit, with the theme “Restoring balance: The science and practice of health and well-being”, will focus on enhancing the contribution of traditional medicine to national health systems and to inclusive, sustainable development. The event will include a ministerial dialogue from 17:00 to 18:30 (IST) on 17 December 2025.
In this regard, the objectives of the second Summit are to:
(1) advance the implementation of the WHO Global Strategy for Traditional Medicine (2025–2034), adopted at the Seventy-eighth World Health Assembly;
(2) align stakeholders on next steps to accelerate the implementation of the Global Strategy for Traditional medicine (2025–2034);
(3) mobilize national commitments across key areas such as policy, regulation, financing, research, and health system integration;
(4) foster knowledge and commitment among different stakeholder groups to integrate evidence-based traditional medicine in health systems, promote access and equity, and strengthen sustainability; and
(5) share traditional medicine national experiences related to policy and practice, research and innovations, integration, regulation, and cross-sectoral engagement, following up on the outcomes of the first Summit, concluding with the Gujarat Declaration.
By blending scientific innovation with cultural wisdom, and championing regulation and sustainability, the Summit will help advance universal health coverage and the Sustainable Development Goals, while inspiring a global movement for health and planetary balance.
Member States are requested to nominate up to three participants from their respective countries across different stakeholder groups with expertise relevant to the Global Summit’s
... programme (as presented in the attached concept note) to compose their delegations considering the following possible stakeholder groups: (a) National Policy-Makers and Regulators;

(b) International and Regional Organizations; (c) Traditional Complementary, and Integrative Medicine (TCIM) Providers and Associations; (d) Biomedical Healthcare Providers and Professional Associations; (e) Research, Academia, and Teaching Institutions; (f) Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities; (g) Consumers, Patients, and User Associations; (h) Civil Society; (i) Industry and Innovators; (j) Youth, Students, and Emerging Leaders; (k) Funders and Donors; (l) Press, Cultural Institutions, and Multimedia Influencers.
The nominations to attend the Summit should be sent by email to [email protected] by 20 October 2025, with the following details of the nominated persons:
• First name
• Family name
• Email address
• Name of the organization
• Country
• In person or virtual participation
• Request for funding participation: Yes/No
All nominated participants – up to three persons per delegation – will receive the provisional agenda and individual registration details by email to access the Summit web platform. Requests for travel and logistics support will be coordinated by WHO in relation to country context and availability of funding.
The working language of the Summit will be English, and interpretation will be provided in all WHO official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish), as well as Hindi. Video recordings of all sessions will be accessible to registered participants on the Summit web platform after the live session to support on-demand viewing.

We are pleased to invite you to the Second WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine, co-hosted by WHO and the Government of India, which will take place in a hybrid format on 17–19 December 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, India.
This pivotal international summit was mandated by the Seventy-eighth World Health Assembly, as also announced to Member States in Circular Letter C.L.29.2025 (17 September 2025).
The core objective of this year’s summit is to operationalize the new WHO Global Traditional Medicine Strategy 2025–2034 through high-level, cross-sectoral dialogue, benchmarking and innovation sharing.
We recognize the instrumental role your country has in the leadership of health system advancement. In this regard, we believe that your personal participation in the dedicated ministerial roundtable, scheduled for 17 December 2025, will be of indispensable value.
In addition to the ministerial participation, we invite you to nominate one technical expert from a relevant sector (for example national policy-makers and regulators; representatives of international and regional organizations; traditional, complementary and integrative medicine providers; biomedical health care providers; representatives from research/academia) to join your delegation.
We kindly request that you confirm the attendance from your country (in person or virtual) no later than 10 November 2025 to [email protected]. Please be advised that WHO is provisionally authorized to extend financial support to cover travel expenses of in person Member State attendance (a minister or one nominated expert), subject to receipt of country nominations by 31 October 2025.
