Dear Director General,
Dear colleague,
Following the call for interest sent out in September, it is my great honour to officially invite you to participate in the Slovenian Peer-Learning Activity on “Measuring the Impacts of Sport – From Economic to Social Perspectives”, which will take place from 22 to 24 February 2026 in Lipica, Slovenia and is organized by the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia in the framework of the implementation of the EU Work Plan for Sport 2024–2027.
The PLA will focus on two key methodologies for measuring the impacts of sports, namely the Sport Satellite Account (SSA), which measures sport’s economic impact in terms of GDP, employment and consumption, and the Social Return on Investment (SROI), which assesses the wider social value of sport. By combining expert panel discussions, practical workshops and case studies, this PLA will identify best practices, challenges and concrete steps for the implementation of these tools at both national and EU levels.
We are very pleased to inform you that the PLA will be kicked off by a high-level panel discussion on the Economic and Social Impacts of Sport in EU, between the Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport Mr Glenn Micallef and the Slovenian Minister for the Economy, Tourism and Sport Mr Matjaž Han.
The Peer Learning Activity (PLA) aims at key policy makers in the field of sport, as well as stakeholders from international organizations, and experts from the field of statistics and economic sciences. Each Member State can register up to two participants for this event. The cost for meals and accommodation will be covered by the organizers.
On the following link, you can sign up to participate in the PLA. Please note that individuals who have already answered the call for interest form, are required to fill out the registration form as well, since it will serve as the basis for accommodation and accreditation.
The registration will close on 20 January 2026. All the practical information about the location of the event, accommodation, transportation etc. will be provided after the registration is completed.
