We would like to inform you that ECDC has just published the document ‘Scenarios for pre-pandemic zoonotic influenza preparedness and response.’.

We would like to thank all of you who contributed during the consultation round and provided valuable comments- your feedback was important to shape this final version!

The document presents potential pre-pandemic scenarios for zoonotic influenza based on early virological and epidemiological signals and outlines preparedness and response actions for each scenario for EU/EEA countries.

It is designed as a practical tool to support national planning, early detection, risk assessments, and decision-making.

The publication is accompanied by:

• a short instruction manual explaining how to use the guide and its tools, and

• a simple downloadable Excel tool that automatically defines the scenario (based on epidemiological and virological information) and extracts the relevant public health measures for each scenario.
