REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS
Save the Date
for the EU Workshop 'Wildfire Preparedness: Empowering the Population, Improve Resilience and Funding Opportunities'
26 - 28 Juanuary 2026, Limassol, Cyprus
Dear Colleagues,
Please save the date for the Workshop on Wildfire Preparedness, Response and Financing, hosted by Cyprus Presidency 2026 and bringing together representatives from EU Member and UCPM Participating States.
In recent years, Europe has faced increasingly severe and complex wildfire seasons. Strengthening prevention, preparedness, coordinated response, and long-term resilience has therefore become a key priority for Member States and EU institutions alike. This workshop will contribute to ongoing European efforts under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism and the Disaster Resilience Goals, with a focus on practical cooperation and knowledge exchange.
The workshop will take place in Limassol, Cyprus, on 26-28 January 2026 (arrival 26/1/2026- departure 28/01/2026). Discussions will explore national experiences and collective priorities in wildfire management, including community preparedness, multi-agency coordination during emergencies, lessons learned from recent events, and opportunities for securing EU and national funding to support resilience.
The programme will include plenary sessions and three thematic working groups, enabling participants to exchange best practices and identify concrete proposals to strengthen wildfire preparedness and response across the EU.
Please complete the questionnaire at the following link https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/WildfirePrepEU not later than the 31st of December 2025. Your input on national experiences, challenges, and best practices will help shape the workshop's discussions and conclusions.
Further practical details, logistical information, and the formal invitation will follow shortly. For any questions, please contact: [email protected]
\Ne look forward to welcoming you to Limassol.
Yours sincerely, 9 . />/
