Excellency,

Following my trip to Estonia, I would like to express my gratitude for our conversation on 28 November. It was an honour that you took the time for the meeting.

Our discussions have shown that, at a time when the world is facing political and security challenges, it is becoming increasingly important for reliable partners such as Estonia and Schleswig-Holstein to engage in dialogue. Our cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region is crucial, both economically and strategically.

Since 2020, Schleswig-Holstein has systematically pursued the development of digital sovereignty and developed a clear strategic line that has led from political decisions to operational projects. Schleswig-Holstein is considered one of the most consistent regions and a pioneer in Germany when it comes to open source and digital sovereignty and is gaining international recognition. I am therefore delighted that Schleswig-Holstein and Estonia are already collaborating in many areas of digitalisation including piloting of Estonia's E-government infrastructure “X-Road”.

On behalf of Dirk Schrödter, the Minister for Digitalisation, I would also like to emphasise that we would be delighted to continue our collaboration in the future.

As discussed, we would like to talk in more detail about creating a joint E-government solution, that would enable us to develop our own use case for the entire European Union. We would also like to continue discussing the use of Al with you, for example in public administration.

I would be honoured to initiate and expand discussions in these areas in the future. Accordingly, I would be very pleased if our experts could participate in an exchange.
