Dear TB Network Members,

As this year comes to an end, we express our gratitude for your contributions and highlight the key achievements that were made possible through our collaboration.

In 2025, our joint efforts resulted in the following publications:

• The Tuberculosis surveillance and monitoring in Europe 2025 - 2023 data and all resources associated with the World Tuberculosis Day 2025.

• The first progress report towards the Sustainable Development Goal Target (SDG) 3.3 .

• The International tuberculosis care transfer form, developed by the ECDC working group on TB and Migrant Health.

• The 2025 update of the Handbook on tuberculosis laboratory diagnostic methods in the European Union. 

• Relevant peer-reviewed publications:

• Increase in tuberculosis among children and young adolescents, European Union/European Economic Area, 2015 to 2023

• Shifting tuberculosis dynamics in the EU/EEA: geographical and drug resistance trends among people of foreign origin, 2019 to 2023

• Diagnostic algorithms for tuberculosis in Europe: insights from the European Reference Laboratory Network for Tuberculosis (ERLTB-Net)

Your support has enabled important progress in our ongoing projects, and we are pleased to share the latest updates:

• The TB infection prevalence project (TBI-PRIO) has successfully completed the feasibility assessment that identified nine EU/EEA countries for which mathematical modelling will be used to generate TB infection prevalence estimates. In 2025, four countries (Slovenia, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Hungary have initiated the preparations required. We will share more details about the project status early next year.

• The TB Monitoring activities (embedded in the project “Monitoring progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals as they pertain to HIV, viral Hepatitis, STIs and TB in the EU/EEA and neighbouring countries.”) have been executed as planned. We completed the first data collection on TB monitoring with 29 EU/EEA countries replying to the survey. Data analysis is ongoing, with the aim of sharing with you the first technical report, for your review and comments, in Q1-2026.

Your dedication to TB prevention, surveillance and monitoring has been invaluable, and we thank you for your ongoing support.

We look forward to welcoming you in Stockholm for the EU/EEA TB Surveillance Meeting, tentatively scheduled for the first week of June 2026.
