Tere Maia,

Tere
Läbi Euroopa Toiduohutusameti võrgustiku on tulnud meile küsimus seoses pestitsiidide jääkide seirega joogiveest.
Within the framework of Directive (EU) 2020/2184 on the quality of water intended for human consumption, we are seeking your assistance regarding the identification of relevant pesticide metabolites for drinking water monitoring.
As you may know, the directive does not provide a harmonized list of relevant pesticide metabolites. In France, ANSES has developed its own list to support national controls. We are interested to learn whether other Member States have also established national lists of relevant pesticide metabolites for their control authorities.
Could you please inform us if your country has developed such a list? If so, would you be willing to share it or provide further details on your approach?
Your input will be highly valuable for our ongoing work. Thank you very much in advance for your cooperation.
Palume Teie abi küsimusele vastamisel. Sisendit palume anda hiljemalt 21.01.2026.
Ette tänades

Subject: Vs: SURVEY – review draft list of pesticides and relevant pesticides metabolites in DW
Dear EC DG Environment,
We hereby submit Estonia's opinion on the list of important pesticides and relevant metabolites.
However, we would like to point out that most of the priority order of active substances was determined based on previous groundwater monitoring findings and the marketing quantities of plant protection products. Since there has been no unified list of pesticides in Estonian laboratories, different laboratories have therefore determined different pesticides in drinking water. Exceedances from the list of pesticides provided in the file have been identified, for example, in the case of Chloridazon, Dicamba and Propiconazole.
In the case of metabolites, greater emphasis was placed on common metabolites formed during the degradation of several active substances. Previous Estonian groundwater monitoring has included only a few long-known metabolites (AMPA, atrazine metabolites, chloridazon-desphenyl, etc.).

Dear Members of the Expert Group under the Drinking Water Directive,
At the Expert Group meeting on 11 September 2024, the Commission announced that a one-year study has been launched in early September to evaluate the efficiency and costs of water treatment techniques for removing PFAS, pesticides (including relevant metabolites) and bisphenol A from drinking water.
In this context, our contractor has established a first draft list of pesticides and (relevant) pesticide metabolites to be considered in this study (see excel file attached).
To ensure that our contractor addresses the pesticides and relevant pesticide metabolites considered most important by Member States, we would like to ask you to review this draft list.
More specifically, we would like you to identify the substances you consider most important and indicate your top 5-10 priorities.
In the designated column ‘Ranking’ in the excel-file you can indicate the rank of the substances and put a cross (‘X’) for those substances that you consider important as well (if any) but are not included in your top 5-10 ranking.
You can also indicate whether any pesticides or relevant pesticide metabolites are missing from this draft list by adding the missing substances in the excel-file at the bottom of the list (in red colour).
We would be very grateful if you could provide your input by Friday 29 November.
Best regards,
THE CLEAN WATER SERVICES TEAM
