Unfortunately, my colleagues who visited Iceland weren't able to help me or confirm whether such an institution exists in Iceland. That's why I reached out to you for clarification. Yes, I also found information about the Quality and Supervision Agency for Well-being and contacted them. They informed me that there is no official platform in Iceland for conducting retrospective analyses of child protection cases with serious consequences to identify cross-sectoral shortcomings. However, they also mentioned that in 2024, the Ministry of Education and Children's Affairs began establishing a working group to address this issue, but since they didn't have information on the status of this work, they recommended contacting the ministry directly. Today, I contacted the Ministry of Education and Children's Affairs and I am awaiting their response. In any case, I wish you all the best, and thank you once again for your response and assistance. I’m not entirely clear on which agency you are referring to. I’ve asked around and no one seems to be familiar with this. The only agency that resembles what you are describing is GEV (Quality and Supervision Agency for Well-being).

Did you receive any further information from the group? If you know from who talked about this or where it originated, then I might be able to be of better help.

Dear Margrét Edda Yngvadóttir! I am writing to you from the Estonian Social Insurance Board. I work in the Supervision Unit and lead a project whose main objective is to retrospectively analyze child protection cases with severe outcomes, identify cross-sectoral bottlenecks, and learn from these cases to prevent serious outcomes in the future and reduce their frequency. In 2025, we formed a working group with the goal of developing a cross-sectoral analysis model and methodology for child protection cases with severe outcomes. During the working group's meetings, we explore various methodologies from Estonia and abroad. At the last meeting in December, the working group expressed a desire to learn about the methodology used in Iceland. Unfortunately, I have not yet found definitive information confirming the existence of an institution, organization, or commission in Iceland that deals with cross-sectoral analysis of child protection cases with severe outcomes. I have found that there is a Quality and Supervision Agency for Well-being in Iceland, but it is not likely what I am looking for. I am reaching out to you because my colleagues recently visited you, and they informed me that there was a meeting in Iceland with representatives from the National Agency for Children and Families, which is similar in its duties to the Estonian Social Insurance Board. Although the meetings did not specifically cover child protection cases resulting in death or severe injury, they still recommended that I reach out to you for clarification. Could you please let me know if there is an institution, organization, or commission in Iceland that deals with cross-sectoral analysis of child protection cases with severe outcomes? If such an entity exists, I would be very grateful if you could share any information or contacts so that I can get in touch with them directly. Please respond at your earliest convenience, but no later than January 16th, as our next working group meeting is soon, and I need time to contact the institution and prepare for the working group meeting on 28.01.2025 to present the Iceland methodology.

Árið 2025 mynduðum við vinnuhóp með það að markmiði að þróa þverfaglegt greiningarlíkan og aðferðafræði fyrir alvarleg barnaverndarmál.
