A laboratory has contacted us to address a failing in our PT scheme for Pathogenic Vibrio, distribution V073 and specimen V0187. 

For their own investigation they would like to understand for themselves why and what testing your laboratory did.  Your laboratory failed to report the presence of V. vulnificus, we would therefore be grateful if you could respond to the following questions by email:

1. Did your laboratory observe any green colonies on TCBS after direct examination? Yes/no or not applicable

2. Did your laboratory observe any green colonies on TCBS after an enrichment process? Yes/no or not applicable

3. If yes what confirmation/identification test did you do – list and include results obtained

4. Did your laboratory do any molecular testing on any of the colonies grown in the sample? What results did you get?

5. Did any of the confirmation/identification results obtained change your results from ‘Presumptive V. vulnificus’ to ‘no V. vulnificus’ in the sample? Yes/no

We would appreciate it if you can reply with your response to the above questions by end of day next Friday, 30^th January 2026.
