The Baltic States and Regional Security in the Transatlantic Context
Working language: English • Participation fee: None • Coffee breaks provided
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The international academic conference “The Baltic States and Regional Security in the Transatlantic Context”, organized by the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania, seeks to bring together established scholars, early-career researchers, doctoral candidates, and policy practitioners to examine the evolving dynamics of international politics and contemporary security challenges, with particular attention to the Baltic States and the wider Baltic Sea region.
In contrast to broader global and Euro-Atlantic security fora, the international academic conference “The Baltic States and Regional Security in the Transatlantic Context”, distinguishes itself through its focused analytical lens on the Baltic and Nordic strategic environment. By foregrounding regional perspectives that are often underrepresented in wider international debates, the conference provides a unique venue for rigorous, in-depth, and theoretically informed discussion of security issues of both regional and global relevance.
At a time of profound transformation in European and transatlantic security, the Baltic–Nordic region has emerged as a critical laboratory for deterrence, resilience, and defence innovation. The conference program will address themes of critical importance to the regional security architecture, including the consolidation of the transatlantic bond, comprehensive approaches to total defence and societal resilience, the development of European defence capabilities, and the geopolitical ramifications of Russia’s ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine.
By fostering dialogue at the intersection of academic research and policy practice, the conference aims to promote meaningful scholarly exchange, generate policy-relevant insights, and advance research agendas that directly engage with the strategic challenges shaping the future of Northern Europe and the Baltic Sea region.
