On Special Invitation by Her Excellency Katrín Jakobsdóttir Former Prime Minister of Iceland
and Dr Hans Henri P. Kluge
WHO Regional Director for Europe High-level reception of the Pan-European Commission on Climate and Health
17 May 2026 | 16:00 CEST, Geneva, Switzerland Dear Madam, Together with H.E. Katrín Jakobsdóttir, Chair of the Pan-European Commission on Climate and Health (PECCH) and former Prime Minister of Iceland, I wish to invite you to the high-level ministerial reception marking the official launch of PECCH’s Call to Action. The event will be held on Sunday, 17 May 2026 at 16:00 CEST at the Intercontinental Hotel in Geneva, Ballroom AED.
Established by the WHO Regional Office for Europe (WHO/Europe), PECCH is a flagship initiative to elevate political commitment to address the health impacts of climate change. Under the leadership of its Chair and guided by Chief Scientific Adviser Sir Andrew Haines, Professor of Environmental Change and Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, PECCH brings together 11 eminent members, including former ministers of health and champions of the climate and health agenda.
Over the past year, PECCH has drawn on extensive hearings, expert consultations and regional engagement to develop its forward-looking Call to Action, aiming to accelerate climate and health action, strengthen WHO/Europe’s support to its 53 Member States and ensure full alignment with the WHO global climate agenda.
Your participation will provide an opportunity for engagement with fellow ministers, members of PECCH and global health leaders to drive momentum for climate and health action. Should you be unable to attend, we kindly invite you to nominate your head of delegation to participate on your behalf. The provisional programme will be shared in March 2026. Kindly confirm your participation by 9 March 2026 by responding to the PECCH Secretariat at [email protected].
I look forward to the opportunity to meet with you in Geneva. Yours very truly,
Dr Hans Henri P. Kluge Regional Director
