Excellency,
On behalf of the United Nations Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies, I have
the pleasure of extending an invitation to the Republic of Estonia to co-host the UN Open Source
Week 2026 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 22 to 26 June 2026.
Global digital cooperation is advancing at an unprecedented pace. UN Open Source
Week 2026 will be the premier global forum where governments, innovators, and practitioners
come together to shape the future of open source collaboration. As a catalyst for implementing
the Global Digital Compact, UN Open Source Week will serve as a platform to exchange
approaches to open source cooperation, discuss open source AI, and leverage open source for
digital public infrastructure.
Given the leadership of the Republic of Estonia in digital transformation and its vibrant
open source ecosystem, we would be deeply honored if your government would consider co-
hosting this global convening. With your partnership, UN Open Source Week would provide an
important opportunity to share learnings and key insights for collaboration on open source. We
would be pleased to welcome your participation as a keynote speaker and to facilitate bilateral
engagements with relevant stakeholders participating in the event.
We kindly request your response to this invitation by Friday, March 20, 2026. Should
you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the focal point for this
conference, Moritz Fromageot at [email protected].
Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.
Sincerely,
Amandeep Singh Gill
Under-Secretary-General and Special Envoy for
