Dear colleagues,
I would like to invite representatives of your organisation to participate in a research study titled
“Towards Green AI adoption and policy for sustainable AI governance.” The study is conducted by the University of Tartu (Estonia) in collaboration with the KNOW Center (Austria) within the Horizon Europe project ENFIELD (European Lighthouse to Manifest
Trustworthy and Green AI).
The aim of the study is to better understand how environmental sustainability considerations are integrated into AI governance and decision-making
in the public sector. In particular, we examine current practices related to AI adoption, infrastructure and procurement choices, monitoring of environmental impacts, as well as organisational enablers and barriers to implementing more sustainable AI solutions.
The findings will contribute to developing a practical framework to support responsible and sustainable AI governance in European public administrations.
As part of this research, we are conducting semi-structured expert interviews with public sector representatives and policy experts in Estonia and other European contexts. We would highly value the perspective of your organisation in a confidential online interview
of up to one hour. No specific preparation is required; an overview of discussion topics will be shared in advance.
Interviews are planned for March–April at a time convenient for the participant. If possible, we would appreciate it if you could indicate a suitable contact person within your organisation (e.g., responsible for AI strategy, digital transformation, IT governance,
sustainability, or related areas), or share availability for an interview directly.
There is no need to prepare in advance. We will share an overview of the interview topics in advance. Participation is voluntary, and all responses will be treated confidentially and used solely for academic research purposes.
Thank you very much for considering this invitation. I would be pleased to provide any additional information if needed.
Best regards,
Anastasija Nikiforova
