Herewith, I am honoured to present to your kind attention the candidature of the Republic of Bulgaria for re-election to the Council of the International Telecommunication Union for the period 2027-2030, during the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference, to be held in Doha, the State of Qatar, from 9 to 27 November 2026.
As a committed member of the International Telecommunication Union Bulgaria is consistently supporting the ITU’s mission to foster international cooperation, promote equitable access to information and communication technologies (ICTs), and advance global connectivity for sustainable development. Our country recognizes the crucial role of this organisation in shaping the future of telecommunications and digital transformation in our increasingly interconnected world.
Republic of Bulgaria, a member of the ITU Council for more than 30 years, is dedicated to further contribute to the ITU’s objectives through active participation in the ITU Council’s work. We bring to the table our expertise in ICTs policy and regulations, focusing on financial efficiency, global digital capacity building, result-oriented governance and regional cooperation. Bulgaria is determined to further promote inclusive and sustainable ICT development and expand initiatives that close the digital divides.
Our candidacy reflects Bulgaria’s keen commitment to the ITU’s values and its vision for a connected, inclusive, and resilient global community. We pledge to work collaboratively with other Member States and the ITU Secretariat to address emerging challenges in the ICT sector, spectrum management, and the advancement of digital infrastructure.
