Subject: Invitation to the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2026 and the AI for Good Global Summit 2026

Sir/Madam,

I have the pleasure to invite you to participate in two flagship events of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU): the WSIS Forum 2026, to be held from 6 to 10 July and the AI for Good Global Summit 2026, taking place from 7 to 10 July 2026 at Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland with the opening ceremonies of both events taking place on 8 July 2026.

In addition, the inaugural Global Dialogue on AI Governance, established under the recent landmark UN General Assembly Resolution on AI, and hosted by the UN Secretary-General with a joint secretariat co-coordinated by ITU and UNESCO, will be held from 6 to 7 July, also at Palexpo.

WSIS is a multistakeholder United Nations (UN) process on digital governance and cooperation, with a vision of fostering people-centred, inclusive, and development-oriented information and knowledge societies. The adoption of UNGA resolution (A/RES/80/173) on 17 December 2025 renewed the mandate for the WSIS process until 2035. The annual WSIS Forum serves as the central multistakeholder convening platform mandated to advance the implementation of the WSIS Action Lines and support global digital cooperation. Anchored in the renewed UNGA mandate, the Forum remains the primary platform for dialogue, collaboration, and action, in response to rapidly emerging digital challenges.

As the leading UN platform on Artificial Intelligence (AI), the AI for Good Global Summit is organized by ITU in partnership with 53 UN agencies and co-convened with the Government of Switzerland. The mission of AI for Good is to unlock AI's potential to serve humanity. As a multi-stakeholder platform, AI for Good advances AI skills development, standards, policy exchanges, and responsible innovation.

Together, the WSIS Forum and the Summit have demonstrated their global reach and impact. In 2025, more than 11,000 participants from 169 countries, including over 100 Ministers and Regulators, more than 60 UN representatives, as well as Ambassadors, CEOs, civil society leaders, youth, technical experts, and academics walked through our conference and exhibitions halls at Palexpo, Geneva where both events were held together.

I am pleased to invite you to participate in the High-Level Track of the WSIS Forum 2026, scheduled for 8 and 9 July, including a ministerial roundtable on Thursday, 9 July. At a time when emerging technologies are reshaping societies, this will provide an opportunity to reflect on the WSIS

It will also allow for the renewal of your country’s commitment to shaping a forward-looking policy and engaging in multistakeholder dialogue, to ensure that digital transformation delivers tangible benefits for all, especially the most vulnerable, so that no one is left behind.

J'ai l'honneur de vous inviter à participer à deux manifestations phares de l'Union internationale des télécommunications (UIT), à savoir le Forum du SMSI de 2026, qui se tiendra du 6 au 10 juillet, et le Sommet mondial sur l'intelligence artificielle au service du bien social de 2026, qui aura lieu du 7 au 10 juillet 2026 à Palexpo à Genève (Suisse). La cérémonie d'ouverture de ces deux manifestations se déroulera le 8 juillet 2026.

En outre, le premier Dialogue mondial sur la gouvernance de l'intelligence artificielle (IA), établi en vertu de la Résolution récemment adoptée par l'Assemblée générale des Nations Unies sur l'IA et organisé par le Secrétaire général de l'ONU, avec l'aide d'un secrétariat conjoint coordonné par l'UIT et l'UNESCO, se tiendra également à Palexpo, les 6 et 7 juillet.

Le Sommet mondial sur la société de l'information (SMSI) est un processus multi-parties prenantes des Nations Unies qui porte sur la gouvernance et la coopération dans le domaine du numérique et dont l'objectif est de favoriser des sociétés de l'information et du savoir centrées sur l'humain, inclusives et axées sur le développement. Avec l'adoption de la Résolution A/RES/80/173 de l'Assemblée générale des Nations Unies le 17 décembre 2025, le mandat du processus du SMSI a été reconduit jusqu'en 2035. Le Forum annuel du SMSI constitue la principale tribune multi-parties prenantes ayant pour mission de faire progresser la mise en œuvre des grandes orientations du SMSI et de soutenir la coopération mondiale dans le domaine du numérique. Consolidé par le renouvellement de son mandat par l'Assemblée générale des Nations Unies, le Forum demeure la principale plate-forme de dialogue, de collaboration et d'action visant à faire face aux défis du numérique qui se multiplient rapidement.

Principale tribune des Nations Unies consacrée à l'IA, le Sommet mondial sur l'IA au service du bien social est organisé par l'UIT en partenariat avec 53 institutions spécialisées des Nations Unies et conjointement avec le Gouvernement de la Suisse. Cet événement a pour mission d'exploiter les promesses de l'intelligence artificielle au service de l'humanité. En tant que plate-forme multi-parties prenantes, le Sommet sur l'IA au service du bien social a pour but de faire progresser le développement des compétences, les normes, les échanges au sujet des politiques et l'innovation responsable dans le domaine de l'IA.

Ensemble, le Forum du SMSI et le Sommet ont montré la portée et les retombées qu'ils pouvaient avoir à l'échelle mondiale. En 2025, plus de 11 000 participants de 169 pays, parmi lesquels plus de 100 ministres et régulateurs, plus de 60 représentants des Nations Unies, ainsi que des ambassadeurs, des P.-D. G., des dirigeants de la société civile, des jeunes, des experts techniques et des universitaires, ont parcouru les salles de conférence et d'exposition à Palexpo (Genève), où les deux manifestations se sont tenues simultanément.

Dans ce contexte, j'ai l'honneur de vous inviter à participer aux Discussions de haut niveau du Forum du SMSI de 2026, qui se tiendront les 8 et 9 juillet et comprendront une table ronde ministérielle, prévue le jeudi 9 juillet. À l'heure où les technologies émergentes redessinent les sociétés, ces rencontres seront l'occasion de mener une réflexion sur l'examen des résultats du SMSI et d'échanger des points de vue nationaux et institutionnels. Elles permettront également à votre pays de renouveler sa volonté de formuler une politique tournée vers l'avenir et de s'engager dans un dialogue multi-parties prenantes pour faire en sorte que la transformation numérique offre des avantages concrets à tous, en particulier aux plus vulnérables, afin que personne ne soit laissé de côté.

Asunto: Invitación al Foro de la Cumbre Mundial sobre la Sociedad de la Información (CMSI)

de 2026 y a la Cumbre Mundial AI for Good de 2026

Muy Señora mía/Muy Señor mío:

Tengo el placer de invitarle a participar en dos eventos emblemáticos de la Unión Internacional de

Telecomunicaciones (UIT), a saber, el Foro de la CMSI 2026, que se celebrará del 6 al 10 de julio, y la Cumbre

Mundial AI for Good 2026, que tendrá lugar del 7 al 10 de julio de 2026 en Palexpo en Ginebra (Suiza), y la

ceremonia de apertura de ambos eventos tendrá lugar el 8 de julio de 2026.

Además, el Diálogo Mundial inaugural sobre la Gobernanza de la IA, establecido en virtud de la reciente e

histórica Resolución de la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas sobre IA y organizado por el Secretario

General de las Naciones Unidas con una secretaría conjunta coordinada por la UIT y la UNESCO, se celebrará

del 6 al 7 de julio, también en Palexpo.

La CMSI es un proceso multipartito de las Naciones Unidas sobre gobernanza y cooperación digital, cuya

visión es fomentar sociedades de la información y el conocimiento centradas en las personas, inclusivas y

orientadas al desarrollo. La adopción de la Resolución de la AGNU (A/RES/80/173) el 17 de diciembre de 2025

renovó el mandato del proceso de la CMSI hasta 2035. El Foro anual de la CMSI es la plataforma central de

convocatoria de múltiples partes interesadas, con mandato para impulsar la implementación de las Líneas

de Acción de la CMSI y apoyar la cooperación digital mundial. Basado en el mandato renovado de la AGNU,

el Foro sigue siendo la principal plataforma de diálogo, colaboración y acción para responder a los desafíos

digitales que surgen con rapidez.

La Cumbre Mundial AI for Good, principal plataforma de las Naciones Unidas sobre inteligencia artificial (IA),

está organizada por la UIT en colaboración con 53 organismos de las Naciones Unidas y convocada

conjuntamente con el Gobierno de Suiza. La misión de AI for Good es aprovechar el potencial de la

inteligencia artificial al servicio de la humanidad. Como plataforma multipartita, AI for Good promueve el

desarrollo de competencias, normas, intercambios de políticas e innovación responsable en IA.

Juntos, el Foro de la CMSI y la Cumbre han demostrado su alcance e impacto mundiales. En 2025, más de

11 000 participantes de 169 países, incluidos más de 100 ministros y reguladores, más de 60 representantes

de las Naciones Unidas, así como embajadores, directores generales, líderes de la sociedad civil, jóvenes,

expertos técnicos y académicos, desfilaron por nuestras salas de conferencias y exposiciones en Palexpo,

Ginebra, donde ambos eventos se celebraron en paralelo.

Me complace invitarle a participar en el Segmento de Alto Nivel del Foro de la CMSI 2026, previsto para los

días 8 y 9 de julio, incluida una mesa redonda ministerial el jueves 9 de julio. En un momento en que las

tecnologías emergentes están reconfigurando las sociedades, esto brindará la oportunidad de reflexionar

sobre el examen de los resultados de la CMSI y compartir perspectivas nacionales e institucionales. También

permitirá renovar el compromiso de su país de configurar una política orientada al futuro y entablar un

diálogo multipartito, para garantizar que la transformación digital genere beneficios tangibles para todos,

especialmente para los más vulnerables, de modo que nadie se quede atrás.
