AEPO-ARTIS is pleased to invite you to a full-day conference titled
"7 Years On… Assessing the Copyright in the Digital Single Market Directive”, taking
place at the Thon
Hotel EU in Brussels
on
Tuesday, 5 May 2026.
As the European Commission undertakes its evaluation of the 2019 CDSM Directive, this timely event
will bring together key voices to reflect on its implementation—particularly the provisions under Chapter 3 aimed at ensuring
fair remuneration for authors and performers across Member States. The conference will explore how these rules are working in practice,
focusing on the
effectiveness of its implementation and what they mean for our performing artists.
The programme will also feature the presentation of the
AEPO-ARTIS report, “Acting Fairly?”, examining the Directive’s impact on actors.
The conference will bring together a high-level audience and a broad range of distinguished speakers
from European institutions, policymaking, industry, AEPO-ARTIS member organisations and the artistic community, including
Emmanuelle Du Chalard (European Commission), MEP Maria Guzenina (S&D, Finland),
Nóirín Ní Earcáin (Irish Copyright Office), Michael Schack (Belgian musician) and
Ibán García Del Blanco (Lasker, former Member of the European Parliament), with additional speakers to be announced.
The event will begin at 09:30 and conclude around 16:45, with a light lunch provided.
A draft programme is available
here and
the final programme will follow shortly. In the meantime, we kindly invite you to register and confirm your attendance

We very much hope you can join us for what promises to be an engaging and insightful discussion.
With kind regards,
